Ash-Sharh

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ۝١

Saheeh InternationalDid We not expand for you, [O Muḥammad], your breast?

Abdel HaleemDid We not relieve your heart for you [Prophet],

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ۝٢

Saheeh InternationalAnd We removed from you your burden

Abdel Haleemand remove the burden

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ۝٣

Saheeh InternationalWhich had weighed upon your back

Abdel Haleemthat weighed so heavily on your back,

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ۝٤

Saheeh InternationalAnd raised high for you your repute.

Abdel Haleemand raise your reputation high?

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا۝٥

Saheeh InternationalFor indeed, with hardship [will be] ease [i.e., relief].

Abdel HaleemSo truly where there is hardship there is also ease;

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا۝٦

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

Abdel Haleemtruly where there is hardship there is also ease.

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ۝٧

Saheeh InternationalSo when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].

Abdel HaleemThe moment you are freed [of one task] work on,

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب۝٨

Saheeh InternationalAnd to your Lord direct [your] longing.

Abdel Haleemand turn to your Lord for everything.
