سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى١
Saheeh InternationalExalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
Abdel Haleem[Prophet], glorify the name of your Lord the Most High,


Surah 87 · Makki · 19 ayat
The Most High
الأعلى
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى١
Saheeh InternationalExalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
Abdel Haleem[Prophet], glorify the name of your Lord the Most High,
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ٢
Saheeh InternationalWho created and proportioned
Abdel Haleemwho created [all things] in due proportion;
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ٣
Saheeh InternationalAnd who destined and [then] guided
Abdel Haleemwho determined their destinies and guided them;
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ٤
Saheeh InternationalAnd who brings out the pasture
Abdel Haleemwho brought out the green pasture
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ٥
Saheeh InternationalAnd [then] makes it black stubble.
Abdel Haleemthen made it dark debris.
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ٦
Saheeh InternationalWe will make you recite, [O Muḥammad], and you will not forget,
Abdel Haleem[Prophet], We shall teach you [the Quran] and you will not forget––
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ٧
Saheeh InternationalExcept what Allāh should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
Abdel Haleemunless God wishes; He knows both what is open and what is hidden––
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ٨
Saheeh InternationalAnd We will ease you toward ease.
Abdel HaleemWe shall show you the easy way.
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ٩
Saheeh InternationalSo remind, if the reminder should benefit;
Abdel HaleemSo remind, if reminding will help.
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ١٠
Saheeh InternationalHe who fears [Allāh] will be reminded.
Abdel HaleemThose who stand in awe of God will heed the reminder,
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى١١
Saheeh InternationalBut the wretched one will avoid it
Abdel Haleembut it will be ignored by the most wicked,
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ١٢
Saheeh International[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,
Abdel Haleemwho will enter the Great Fire,
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ١٣
Saheeh InternationalNeither dying therein nor living.
Abdel Haleemwhere they will neither die nor live.
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ١٤
Saheeh InternationalHe has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
Abdel HaleemProsperous are those who purify themselves,
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ١٥
Saheeh InternationalAnd mentions the name of his Lord and prays.
Abdel Haleemremember the name of their Lord, and pray.
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا١٦
Saheeh InternationalBut you prefer the worldly life,
Abdel HaleemYet you [people] prefer the life of this world,
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ١٧
Saheeh InternationalWhile the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
Abdel Haleemeven though the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ١٨
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is in the former scriptures,
Abdel HaleemAll this is in the earlier scriptures,
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ١٩
Saheeh InternationalThe scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
Abdel Haleemthe scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
