Al-Buruj

The Mansions of the Stars

Saheeh InternationalBy the sky containing great stars

Abdel HaleemBy the sky with its towering constellations,

Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] the promised Day

Abdel Haleemby the promised Day,

Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] the witness and what is witnessed,

Abdel Haleemby the Witness and that which is witnessed,

Saheeh InternationalDestroyed [i.e., cursed] were the companions of the trench

Abdel Haleemdamned were the makers of the trench,

Saheeh International[Containing] the fire full of fuel,

Abdel Haleemthe makers of the fuel-stoked fire!

Saheeh InternationalWhen they were sitting near it.

Abdel HaleemThey sat down

Saheeh InternationalAnd they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.

Abdel Haleemto watch what they were doing to the believers.

Saheeh InternationalAnd they resented them not except because they believed in Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,

Abdel HaleemTheir only grievance against them was their faith in God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy,

Saheeh InternationalTo whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh, over all things, is Witness.

Abdel Haleemto whom all control over the heavens and earth belongs: God is witness over all things.

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

Abdel HaleemFor those who persecute believing men and women, and do not repent afterwards, there will be the torment of Hell and burning.

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.

Abdel HaleemBut for those who believe and do good deeds there will be Gardens graced with flowing streams: that is the great triumph.

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the assault [i.e., vengeance] of your Lord is severe.

Abdel Haleem[Prophet], your Lord’s punishment is truly stern––

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

Abdel Haleemit is He who brings people to life, and will restore them to life again––

Saheeh InternationalAnd He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

Abdel Haleemand He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Loving.

Saheeh InternationalHonorable Owner of the Throne,

Abdel HaleemThe Glorious Lord of the Throne,

Saheeh InternationalEffecter of what He intends.

Abdel HaleemHe does whatever He will.

Saheeh InternationalHas there reached you the story of the soldiers -

Abdel HaleemHave you [not] heard the stories of the forces

Saheeh International[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamūd?

Abdel Haleemof Pharaoh and Thamud?

Saheeh InternationalBut they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,

Abdel HaleemYet still the disbelievers persist in denial.

Saheeh InternationalWhile Allāh encompasses them from behind.

Abdel HaleemGod surrounds them all.

Saheeh InternationalBut this is an honored Qur’ān

Abdel HaleemThis is truly a glorious Quran

Saheeh International[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.

Abdel Haleem[written] on a preserved Tablet.
