Al-Infitar

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ۝١

Saheeh InternationalWhen the sky breaks apart

Abdel HaleemWhen the sky is torn apart,

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ۝٢

Saheeh InternationalAnd when the stars fall, scattering,

Abdel Haleemwhen the stars are scattered,

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ۝٣

Saheeh InternationalAnd when the seas are erupted

Abdel Haleemwhen the seas burst forth,

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ۝٤

Saheeh InternationalAnd when the [contents of] graves are scattered [i.e., exposed],

Abdel Haleemwhen graves turn inside out:

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ۝٥

Saheeh InternationalA soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.

Abdel Haleemeach soul will know what it has done and what it has left undone.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ۝٦

Saheeh InternationalO mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,

Abdel HaleemMankind, what has lured you away from God,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ۝٧

Saheeh InternationalWho created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?

Abdel Haleemyour generous Lord, who created you, shaped you, proportioned you,

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ۝٨

Saheeh InternationalIn whatever form He willed has He assembled you.

Abdel Haleemin whatever form He chose?

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ۝٩

Saheeh InternationalNo! But you deny the Recompense.

Abdel HaleemYet you still take the Judgement to be a lie!

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ۝١٠

Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,

Abdel HaleemOver you stand

كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ۝١١

Saheeh InternationalNoble and recording;

Abdel Haleemwatchers, noble recorders

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ۝١٢

Saheeh InternationalThey know whatever you do.

Abdel Haleemwho know what you do:

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ۝١٣

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,

Abdel Haleemthe good will live in bliss,

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ۝١٤

Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.

Abdel Haleemand the wicked will burn in the Fire.

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ۝١٥

Saheeh InternationalThey will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,

Abdel HaleemThey will enter it on the Day of Judgement

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ۝١٦

Saheeh InternationalAnd never therefrom will they be absent.

Abdel Haleemand they will find no escape.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ۝١٧

Saheeh InternationalAnd what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

Abdel HaleemWhat will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is?

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ۝١٨

Saheeh InternationalThen, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

Abdel HaleemYes! What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is?

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ۝١٩

Saheeh InternationalIt is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allāh.

Abdel HaleemThe Day when no soul will be able to do anything for another; on that Day, command will belong to God.
