Al-Mursalat

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا۝١

Saheeh InternationalBy those [winds] sent forth in gusts

Abdel HaleemBy the [winds] sent forth in swift succession,

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا۝٢

Saheeh InternationalAnd the winds that blow violently

Abdel Haleemviolently storming,

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا۝٣

Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] the winds that spread [clouds]

Abdel Haleemscattering far and wide,

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا۝٤

Saheeh InternationalAnd those [angels] who bring criterion

Abdel Haleemseparating forcefully,

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا۝٥

Saheeh InternationalAnd those [angels] who deliver a message.

Abdel Haleemdelivering a reminder,

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا۝٦

Saheeh InternationalAs justification or warning,

Abdel Haleemas a proof or a warning:

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ۝٧

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, what you are promised is to occur.

Abdel Haleemwhat you are promised will come to pass.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ۝٨

Saheeh InternationalSo when the stars are obliterated

Abdel HaleemWhen the stars are dimmed

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ۝٩

Saheeh InternationalAnd when the heaven is opened

Abdel Haleemand the sky is torn apart,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ۝١٠

Saheeh InternationalAnd when the mountains are blown away

Abdel Haleemwhen the mountains are turned to dust

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ۝١١

Saheeh InternationalAnd when the messengers' time has come...

Abdel Haleemand the messengers given their appointed time––

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ۝١٢

Saheeh InternationalFor what Day was it postponed?

Abdel Haleemfor what Day has all this been set?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ۝١٣

Saheeh InternationalFor the Day of Judgement.

Abdel HaleemThe Day of Decision.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ۝١٤

Saheeh InternationalAnd what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement?

Abdel HaleemWhat will explain to you what the Day of Decision is?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝١٥

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ۝١٦

Saheeh InternationalDid We not destroy the former peoples?

Abdel HaleemDid We not destroy the first [of them]?

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ۝١٧

Saheeh InternationalThen We will follow them with the later ones.

Abdel HaleemWe shall make the last follow them:

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ۝١٨

Saheeh InternationalThus do We deal with the criminals.

Abdel Haleemthis is how We deal with the guilty.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝١٩

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ۝٢٠

Saheeh InternationalDid We not create you from a liquid disdained?

Abdel HaleemDid We not make you from an underrated fluid

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ۝٢١

Saheeh InternationalAnd We placed it in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb]

Abdel Haleemwhich We housed in a safe lodging

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ۝٢٢

Saheeh InternationalFor a known extent.

Abdel Haleemfor a determined period?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ۝٢٣

Saheeh InternationalAnd We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine.

Abdel HaleemWe determine [it]: how excellently We determine!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٢٤

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا۝٢٥

Saheeh InternationalHave We not made the earth a container

Abdel HaleemDid We not make the earth a home

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا۝٢٦

Saheeh InternationalOf the living and the dead?

Abdel Haleemfor the living and the dead?

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا۝٢٧

Saheeh InternationalAnd We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water.

Abdel HaleemDid We not place firm, lofty mountains on it and provide you with sweet water?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٢٨

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ۝٢٩

Saheeh International[They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny.

Abdel HaleemThey will be told, ‘Go to that which you used to deny!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ۝٣٠

Saheeh InternationalProceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns.

Abdel HaleemGo to a shadow of smoke!’ It rises in three columns;

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ۝٣١

Saheeh International[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame."

Abdel Haleemno shade does it give, nor relief from the flame;

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ۝٣٢

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress,

Abdel Haleemit shoots out sparks as large as treetrunks

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ۝٣٣

Saheeh InternationalAs if they were yellowish [black] camels.

Abdel Haleemand as bright as copper.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٣٤

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ۝٣٥

Saheeh InternationalThis is a Day they will not speak,

Abdel HaleemOn that Day they will be speechless,

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ۝٣٦

Saheeh InternationalNor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse.

Abdel Haleemand they will be given no chance to offer any excuses.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٣٧

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ۝٣٨

Saheeh InternationalThis is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples.

Abdel Haleem[They will be told], ‘This is the Day of Decision: We have gathered you and earlier generations.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ۝٣٩

Saheeh InternationalSo if you have a plan, then plan against Me.

Abdel HaleemIf you have any plots against Me, try them now.’

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٤٠

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ۝٤١

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs

Abdel HaleemBut those who took heed of God will enjoy cool shade, springs,

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ۝٤٢

Saheeh InternationalAnd fruits from whatever they desire,

Abdel Haleemand any fruit they desire;

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ۝٤٣

Saheeh International[Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

Abdel Haleem[they will be told], ‘Eat and drink to your hearts’ content as a reward for your deeds:

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ۝٤٤

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

Abdel Haleemthis is how We reward those who do good.’

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٤٥

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ۝٤٦

Saheeh International[O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals.

Abdel Haleem[You may] eat and enjoy yourselves for a short while, evildoers that you are.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٤٧

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ۝٤٨

Saheeh InternationalAnd when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow.

Abdel HaleemWhen they are told, ‘Bow down in prayer,’ they do not do so.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ۝٤٩

Saheeh InternationalWoe, that Day, to the deniers.

Abdel HaleemWoe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ۝٥٠

Saheeh InternationalThen in what statement after it [i.e., the Qur’ān] will they believe?

Abdel HaleemIn what revelation, after this, will they believe?
