Al-Fil

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ۝١

Saheeh InternationalHave you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?

Abdel HaleemDo you [Prophet] not see how your Lord dealt with the army of the elephant?

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ۝٢

Saheeh InternationalDid He not make their plan into misguidance?

Abdel HaleemDid He not utterly confound their plans?

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ۝٣

Saheeh InternationalAnd He sent against them birds in flocks,

Abdel HaleemHe sent ranks of birds against them,

تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ۝٤

Saheeh InternationalStriking them with stones of hard clay,

Abdel Haleempelting them with pellets of hard-baked clay:

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ۝٥

Saheeh InternationalAnd He made them like eaten straw.

Abdel HaleemHe made them [like] cropped stubble.
