Al-Humazah

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ۝١

Saheeh InternationalWoe to every scorner and mocker

Abdel HaleemWoe to every fault-finding backbiter

ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ۝٢

Saheeh InternationalWho collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.

Abdel Haleemwho amasses riches, counting them over,

يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ۝٣

Saheeh InternationalHe thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

Abdel Haleemthinking they will make him live for ever.

كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ۝٤

Saheeh InternationalNo! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.

Abdel HaleemNo indeed! He will be thrust into the Crusher!

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ۝٥

Saheeh InternationalAnd what can make you know what is the Crusher?

Abdel HaleemWhat will explain to you what the Crusher is?

نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ۝٦

Saheeh InternationalIt is the fire of Allāh, [eternally] fueled,

Abdel HaleemIt is God’s Fire, made to blaze,

ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ۝٧

Saheeh InternationalWhich mounts directed at the hearts.

Abdel Haleemwhich rises over people’s hearts.

إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ۝٨

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it [i.e., Hellfire] will be closed down upon them

Abdel HaleemIt closes in on them

فِى عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍۭ۝٩
