Abdel HaleemTa Sin Mim
Saheeh InternationalThese are the verses of the clear Book.
Abdel HaleemThese are the verses of the Scripture that makes things clear:
Saheeh InternationalPerhaps, [O Muḥammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
Abdel Haleem[Prophet], are you going to worry yourself to death because they will not believe?
Saheeh InternationalIf We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
Abdel HaleemIf We had wished, We could have sent them down a sign from heaven, at which their necks would stay bowed in utter humility.
Saheeh InternationalAnd no mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
Abdel HaleemWhenever they are brought a new revelation from the Lord of Mercy, they turn away:
Saheeh InternationalFor they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
Abdel Haleemthey deny it, but the truth of what they scorned will soon hit them.
Saheeh InternationalDid they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
Abdel HaleemDo they not see the earth, and what noble kinds of thing We grow in it?
Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Abdel HaleemThere truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe:
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Abdel Haleemyour Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
Abdel HaleemYour Lord called to Moses: ‘Go to those wrongdoers,
Saheeh InternationalThe people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?"
Abdel Haleemthe people of Pharaoh. Will they not take heed?’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
Abdel HaleemMoses said, ‘My Lord, I fear they will call me a liar,
Saheeh InternationalAnd that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
Abdel Haleemand I will feel stressed and tongue-tied, so send Aaron too;
Saheeh InternationalAnd they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
Abdel Haleembesides, they have a chargeagainst me, and I fear they may kill me.’
Saheeh International[Allāh] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
Abdel HaleemGod said, ‘No [they will not]. Go, both of you, with Our signs––We shall be with you, listen-ing.
Saheeh InternationalGo to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
Abdel HaleemGo, both of you, to Pharaoh and say, “We bring a message from the Lord of the Worlds:
Saheeh International[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
Abdel Haleemlet the Children of Israel leave with us.” ’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
Abdel HaleemPharaoh said, ‘Did we not bring you up as a child among us? Did you not stay with us for many years?
Saheeh InternationalAnd [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
Abdel HaleemAnd then you committed that crime of yours: you were so ungrateful.’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray [i.e., ignorant].
Abdel HaleemMoses replied, ‘I was misguided when I did it
Saheeh InternationalSo I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement [i.e., wisdom and prophet hood] and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
Abdel Haleemand I fled from you in fear; later my Lord gave me wisdom and made me one of His messengers.
Saheeh InternationalAnd is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
Abdel HaleemAnd is this- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel- the favour with which you reproach me?’
Saheeh InternationalSaid Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
Abdel HaleemPharaoh asked, ‘What is this “Lord of the Worlds”?’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
Abdel HaleemMoses replied, ‘He is the Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them. If you would only have faith!’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
Abdel HaleemPharaoh said to those present, ‘Do you hear what he says?’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
Abdel HaleemMoses said, ‘He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
Abdel HaleemPharaoh said, ‘This messenger who has been sent to you is truly possessed.’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
Abdel HaleemMoses continued, ‘Lord of the East and West and everything between them. If you would only use your reason!’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
Abdel HaleemBut Pharaoh said [to him], ‘If you take any god other than me, I will throw you into prison,’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you something [i.e., proof] manifest?"
Abdel Haleemand Moses asked, ‘Even if I show you something convincing?’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
Abdel Haleem‘Show it then,’ said Pharaoh, ‘if you are telling the truth.’
Saheeh InternationalSo [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
Abdel HaleemSo Moses threw down his staff and- lo and behold!- it became a snake for everyone to see.
Saheeh InternationalAnd he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
Abdel HaleemThen he drew out his hand and- lo and behold!- it was white for the onlookers to see.
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
Abdel HaleemPharaoh said to the counsellors around him, ‘This man is a learned sorcerer!
Saheeh InternationalHe wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
Abdel HaleemHe means to use his sorcery to drive you out of your land! What do you suggest?’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
Abdel HaleemThey answered, ‘Delay him and his brother for a while, and send messengers to all the cities
Saheeh InternationalWho will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
Abdel Haleemto bring every accomplished sorcerer to you.’
Saheeh InternationalSo the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.
Abdel HaleemThe sorcerers were [to be] assembled at the appointed time on a certain day
Saheeh InternationalAnd it was said to the people, "Will you congregate.
Abdel Haleemand the people were asked, "Are you all coming?
Saheeh InternationalThat we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
Abdel HaleemWe may follow the sorcerers if they win!"
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
Abdel HaleemWhen the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, ‘Shall we be rewarded if we win?’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
Abdel Haleemand he said, ‘Yes, and you will join my inner court.’
Saheeh InternationalMoses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
Abdel HaleemMoses said to them, ‘Throw down whatever you will.’
Saheeh InternationalSo they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
Abdel HaleemThey threw their ropes and staffs, saying, ‘By Pharaoh’s might, we shall be victorious.’
Saheeh InternationalThen Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
Abdel HaleemBut Moses threw his staff and- lo and behold!- it swallowed up their trickery
Saheeh InternationalSo the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allāh].
Abdel Haleemand the sorcerers fell down on their knees,
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
Abdel Haleemexclaiming, ‘We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,
Saheeh InternationalThe Lord of Moses and Aaron."
Abdel Haleemthe Lord of Moses and Aaron.’
Saheeh International[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
Abdel HaleemPharaoh said, ‘How dare you believe in him before I have given you permission? He must be the master who taught you sorcery! Soon you will see: I will cut off your alternate hands and feet and then crucify the lot of you!’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
Abdel Haleem‘That will do us no harm,’ they said, ‘for we are sure to return to our Lord.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
Abdel HaleemWe hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we were the first to believe.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
Abdel HaleemThen We revealed Our will to Moses, ‘Leave with My servants by night, for you will be pursued!’
Saheeh InternationalThen Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
Abdel HaleemPharaoh sent messengers into the cities, proclaiming,
Saheeh International[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
Abdel Haleem‘These people are a puny band––
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, they are enraging us,
Abdel Haleemthey have enraged us-
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, we are a cautious society..."
Abdel Haleemand we are a large army, on the alert.’
Saheeh InternationalSo We removed them from gardens and springs
Abdel HaleemSo it was that We made them leave their gardens and their springs,
Saheeh InternationalAnd treasures and honorable station -
Abdel Haleemtheir treasures and their noble dwellings-
Saheeh InternationalThus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
Abdel HaleemWe gave [such] things [later]to the Children of Israel.
Saheeh InternationalSo they pursued them at sunrise.
Abdel HaleemPharaoh and his people pursued them at sunrise,
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"
Abdel Haleemand as soon as the two sides came within sight of one another, Moses’ followers said, ‘We shall definitely be caught.’
Saheeh International[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
Abdel HaleemMoses said, ‘No, my Lord is with me: He will guide me,’
Saheeh InternationalThen We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
Abdel Haleemand We revealed to Moses: ‘Strike the sea with your staff.’ It parted- each side like a mighty mountain-
Saheeh InternationalAnd We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].
Abdel Haleemand We brought the others to that place:
Saheeh InternationalAnd We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
Abdel HaleemWe saved Moses and all his companions,
Saheeh InternationalThen We drowned the others.
Abdel Haleemand drowned the rest.
Saheeh InternationalAnd recite to them the news of Abraham,
Abdel HaleemTell them the story of Abraham,
Saheeh InternationalWhen he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
Abdel Haleemwhen he asked his father and his people, ‘What do you worship?’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
Abdel HaleemThey said, ‘We worship idols, and are constantly in attendance on them.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
Abdel HaleemHe asked, ‘Do they hear you when you call?
Saheeh InternationalOr do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
Abdel HaleemDo they help or harm you?’
Saheeh InternationalThey said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."
Abdel HaleemThey replied, ‘No, but this is what we saw our fathers doing.’
Saheeh InternationalHe said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
Abdel HaleemAbraham said, ‘Those idols you have worshipped,
Saheeh InternationalYou and your ancient forefathers?
Abdel Haleemyou and your forefathers,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,
Abdel Haleemare my enemies; not so the Lord of the Worlds,
Saheeh InternationalWho created me, and He [it is who] guides me.
Abdel Haleemwho created me. It is He who guides me;
Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
Abdel HaleemHe who gives me food and drink;
Saheeh InternationalAnd when I am ill, it is He who cures me
Abdel HaleemHe who cures me when I am ill;
Saheeh InternationalAnd who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
Abdel HaleemHe who will make me die and then give me life again;
Saheeh InternationalAnd who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
Abdel Haleemand He who will, I hope, forgive my faults on the Day of Judgement.
Saheeh International[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
Abdel HaleemMy Lord, grant me wisdom; join me with the righteous;
Saheeh InternationalAnd grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations.
Abdel Haleemgive me a good name among later generations;
Saheeh InternationalAnd place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
Abdel Haleemmake me one of those given the Garden of Bliss-
Saheeh InternationalAnd forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
Abdel Haleemforgive my father, for he is one of those who have gone astray-
Saheeh InternationalAnd do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
Abdel Haleemand do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected:
Saheeh InternationalThe Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
Abdel Haleemthe Day when neither wealth nor children can help,
Saheeh InternationalBut only one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart."
Abdel Haleemwhen the only one who will be saved is the one who comes before God with a heart devoted to Him.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
Abdel HaleemWhen the Garden is brought near to the righteous
Saheeh InternationalAnd Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
Abdel Haleemand the Fire is placed in full view of the misguided,

Abdel Haleemto your heart [Prophet], so that you could bring warning
Saheeh InternationalIn a clear Arabic language.
Abdel Haleemin a clear Arabic tongue.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
Abdel HaleemThis was foretold in the scriptures of earlier religions.
Saheeh InternationalAnd has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
Abdel HaleemIs it not proof enough for them that the learned men of the Children of Israel have recognized it?
Saheeh InternationalAnd even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
Abdel HaleemIf We had sent it down to someone who was not an Arab,
Saheeh InternationalAnd he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.
Abdel Haleemand he had recited it to them, they still would not have believed in it.
Saheeh InternationalThus have We inserted it [i.e., disbelief] into the hearts of the criminals.
Abdel HaleemSo We make it pass straight through the hearts of the guilty:
Saheeh InternationalThey will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
Abdel Haleemthey will not believe in it until they see the grievous torment,
Saheeh InternationalAnd it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
Abdel Haleemwhich will suddenly hit them when they are not expecting it,
Saheeh InternationalAnd they will say, "May we be reprieved?"
Abdel Haleemand then they will say, ‘Can we have more time?’
Saheeh InternationalSo for Our punishment are they impatient?
Abdel HaleemHow can they ask that Our punishment be brought to them sooner?
Saheeh InternationalThen have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
Abdel HaleemThink, if we let them enjoy this life for some years
Saheeh InternationalAnd then there came to them that which they were promised?
Abdel Haleemand then the promised torment came upon them,
Saheeh InternationalThey would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
Abdel Haleemwhat good would their past enjoyment be to them?
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
Abdel HaleemNever have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it,
Saheeh InternationalAs a reminder; and never have We been unjust.
Abdel Haleemas a reminder from Us: We are never unjust.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the devils have not brought it [i.e., the revelation] down.
Abdel HaleemIt was not the jinn who brought down this Quran:
Saheeh InternationalIt is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
Abdel Haleemit is neither in their interests nor in their power,
Saheeh InternationalIndeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.
Abdel Haleemindeed they are prevented from overhearing it.
Saheeh InternationalSo do not invoke with Allāh another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
Abdel HaleemSo [Prophet] do not invoke any gods beside God, or you will incur punishment.
Saheeh InternationalAnd warn, [O Muḥammad], your closest kindred.
Abdel HaleemWarn your nearest kinsfolk
Saheeh InternationalAnd lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to those who follow you of the believers.
Abdel Haleemand lower your wing tenderly over the believers who follow you.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."
Abdel HaleemIf they disobey you, say, ‘I bear no responsibility for your actions.’
Saheeh InternationalAnd rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
Abdel HaleemPut your trust in the Almighty, the Merciful,
Saheeh InternationalWho sees you when you arise
Abdel Haleemwho sees you when you stand up [for prayer]
Saheeh InternationalAnd your movement among those who prostrate.
Abdel Haleemand sees your movements among the worshippers:
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Abdel HaleemHe is the All Hearing, the All Knowing.
Saheeh InternationalShall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
Abdel HaleemShall I tell you who the jinn come down to?
Saheeh InternationalThey descend upon every sinful liar.
Abdel HaleemThey come down to every lying sinner
Saheeh InternationalThey pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.
Abdel Haleemwho readily lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars:
Saheeh InternationalAnd the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
Abdel Haleemonly those who are lost in error follow the poets.
Saheeh InternationalDo you not see that in every valley they roam
Abdel HaleemDo you not see how they rove aimlessly in every valley;
Saheeh InternationalAnd that they say what they do not do? -
Abdel Haleemhow they say what they do not do?
Saheeh InternationalExcept those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allāh often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
Abdel HaleemNot so those [poets] who believe, do good deeds, remember God often, and defend themselves after they have been wronged. The evildoers will find out what they will return to.
